Ueda Metal Works began in 1929 in Taisho-ku, Osaka, making copper-alloy castings for ship parts. After losing its factory to war damage, the company restarted in Shinminato, Toyama, in 1944, and moved to Takaoka in 1960.
Takaoka has been a town of casting since 1611 and is known for its copperware. Here, we make machine parts: plain bearings, bushings, and worm wheels that support rotating shafts and transmit power in pumps, construction machinery, ships, and machine tools.
I took over this foundry in 2021. I started on a foundry floor in 1997 and have worked through every process that casting requires, as well as machining, welding, non-destructive testing, and developing a casting business overseas. In 2018, I founded Co Creation on my own as a trading company for castings, and expanded it into pattern making, casting, and machining.
Patterns, sand molds, pouring, and machining: the skills to do all of this in-house were built up over more than 90 years by the managers and employees who came before me. Having grown up on the foundry floor, I know what they are worth. Passing them on to the next generation is my job.
To that end, we installed an optical emission spectrometer and a 500 kg high-frequency induction furnace in 2023. We added our Second Factory and Third Factory through business succession in 2024 and 2025. In December 2025, we replaced all our heavy-oil furnaces with gas furnaces. In 2023, we also welcomed Hayahoshi Seiko into our group, so we can now handle everything from castings to precision turning.
No one makes castings alone. I am grateful to our employees, who work alongside me every day, and to our suppliers, who support our work with materials and supplies. We will keep strengthening the company so that our employees’ livelihoods and our suppliers’ business become even more stable.
In 2029, Ueda Metal Works will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Whatever the industry, we will keep working on parts used at the heart of people’s lives. That is our promise for the next hundred years. A single drawing is enough to start, so please feel free to contact us.
